Lauridsen returns for a second season with the Gamblers. Lauridsen was key part of the Gamblers defensive core that led the league in goals against last season. During his rookie tour in the USHL, Lauridsen appeared in 44 games notching five goals and five assists. Prior to coming to North America, Lauridsen played in the Superelite League for Linkopings HC, the same program that produced former Gamblers forward Ludwig Karlsson (09-11). On the international level, Lauridsen suited up for his native Denmarkand led them to gold at the World Junior Group “B” championships in Bled, Slovenia. Lauridsen led all defenseman at the tournament in scoring with seven points (1g, 6a) as Denmark won four of their five games and had the best goal differential (35-14) in the six-nation pool. Lauridsen is another current Gambler with rich hockey bloodlines. His brother Oliver, who is a 7th round pick of the Philadelphia Flyers will play this season with the Flyers American Hockey League affiliate in Adirondack. Markus will also keep the family tradition at St. Cloud State alive, as he is committed to the Huskies beginning in the fall of 2012.
